Collagen Replacement Therapy®

Collagen Replacement Therapy® is a minimally invasive procedure which has been used for years to augment and shape lips, as well as reduce facial lines. Collagen is a natural substance found in skin, muscle and bones. Results are immediate and no downtime is required.

Zyderm & Zyplast Collagen are the very first generation fillers in Collagen Replacement Therapy®, and are derived from purified cow skin. Next generation collagen fillers, which Dr. Slupchynskyj recommends, are longer lasting with added benefits.  These fillers include Cosmoderm/Cosmoplast.

What is Cosmoderm/Cosmoplast? Cosmoderm and Cosmoplast are sterile injectable fillers made of highly purified human collagen. Skin is harvested from the patient and sent out for processing, which can take from 2 to 4 weeks. Dr. S.

How does Cosmoderm/Cosmoplast work and what are the advantages? It immediately lifts and adds volume to the areas being treated. Because the filler is human derived and highly purified, no skin test is required. There is no downtime. These fillers also contain lidocaine, which anesthetizes the skin at the site of the injection.

Are results instantaneous? The result is immediate and produces a natural enhancement. You can expect to experience some swelling after the procedure, which will resolve in a few hours thereafter.

Do I need more than one treatment? Results can generally be obtained with one treatment, however, touch up treatments may be desired to further enhance the look.

How long can I expect results to last? Treatment results differ for each person, however, you can expect results to last from 2 to 6 months.

What are some of the possible side effects? The most common side effects include redness and possible swelling at the harvesting sight. Possible side effects with any injection include bleeding, and tenderness, redness, or swelling. These side effects last, on average, 2 to 3 days.
