Evolence

What is EVOLENCE™? Evolence is highly purified collagen derived from porcine tendons. Porcine collagen material is used to make heart valve replacements, implantable lenses, wound dressing in burn therapy and surgical mesh patches for tissue repair. Evolence is currently not FDA approved for use in the USA, however, was launched in 2004 in Italy and is in use in Europe.

How does EVOLENCE™ work and what are the advantages? Evolence is engineered to mimic the properties of natural collagen in skin. The filler is produced via the Glymatrix technology, which involves a unique cross linking process, increasing stability and longevity of the result. Skin testing is not necessary.

Are results instantaneous? The result is immediate and produces a natural enhancement. You can expect to experience some swelling after the procedure, which will resolve in a few hours thereafter.

Do I need more than one treatment? Results can generally be obtained with one treatment, however, touch up treatments may be desired to further enhance the look.

How long can I expect results to last? Treatment results differ for each person, however, results last reportedly up to 12 months and gradually diminish over time.

What are some of the possible side effects? While an allergic reaction is theoretically possible, it is extremely rare. Pre-testing is not a prerequisite to treatment with EVOLENCE™. Patients with a history of hypersensitivity, particularly known allergies to collagen, should consult their doctor. Possible side effects with any injection include bleeding, and tenderness, redness, or swelling . These side effects last, on average, 2 to 3 days.
